This replacement air filter is designed to remove particles that are 3 microns or larger from your air. See, MERV stands for Minimum Efficiency Reporting Value, and allows a precise measurement in how good an air filter is. Forced Air systems like central heating furnaces can't use HEPA-rated filters because of how dense a HEPA weave is and how much air must be moved through the ducts. So, MERV-8 filters are approximately as effective as HEPA filters, despite not being as dense and remove mold, dust mites, pent dander, and even particles of hair spray from your air. Just replace the filter every four to six months for maximum efficiency.
