My first order from Crucial Air (along with the HEPA filter also)-Just arrived and installed a few minutes ago.Perfect fit - the slits to align the filter WERE there in my filters, made for easy install.Comparing to the old installed filter (brand name of KENMORE - which was made by Whirlpool and rebranded for Sears) to the Crucial one - the Crucial filter seemed to be noticeably MORE substantial than the Kenmore-branded one.So far so good! Happiness!

Full product description
The charcoal pre-filter for large Kenmore and Whirlpool air purifiers. It replaces Kenmore part 83378, which Whirlpool sells as 8171434K (older number 8171434). It sits in front of the main filter, catches larger dust and lint before they reach it, and the carbon helps with household odors.
Fits
Kenmore air purifiers 83200, 83202, 83230 and 83354, Sears models 4283200, 4283202, 4283230 and 720741, and the Progressive 295 and 335 series. Whirlpool AP300, AP350, AP450 and AP510. The full Sears 106.xxxxx numbers and the Whirlpool AP35030 / AP45030 / AP51030 versions are listed at the bottom of this page.
When to change it
Fit a new one when it looks gray or clogged. Don't wash it: Kenmore's own manual says to replace this pre-filter, not wash or reuse it.
Can I wash and reuse this pre-filter?
No. Kenmore's manual says the pre-filter isn't washable or reusable. Replace it instead.
Is this the main filter?
No. This is only the charcoal pre-filter. The main filter in these Kenmore purifiers is a separate part, Kenmore 83375 / 83376.
Does it fit the Whirlpool WP1000 or WPPRO2000?
No. Those two take Whirlpool's extra-large pre-filter, 8171510K.
