Breville machines prompt for descaling on a schedule, and the branded solution is sold in single-use sachets. This is a bottle that covers roughly four years of quarterly descaling instead.
A super-concentrated liquid using food-grade citric and lactic acid in purified water. It mixes instantly — no powder to dissolve, no sachet to tear — so you measure 1–2 tablespoons (15–30 ml) into the tank and run the machine's own descale cycle. 16 uses per 16 fl oz bottle.

The descale light is still on after the cycle. What now?
On some models the reminder clears only after you confirm it in the menu, so check your manual for the reset step. If shots are still slow or the steam wand is weak, run a second full descale and the two rinses again.

Can I use Breville's cleaning tablets instead?
No, they do a different job. Breville's cleaning tablets strip coffee oil from the group head and don't remove scale. This is a citric and lactic acid descaler, a liquid replacement for Breville's single-use descaling sachets.
